Foreign minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari received a copy of the credentials of the new Italian ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Brono Antonio Baskino, both sides discussed the important issues between Baghdad and Rome and mutual cooperation in different fields.
The Minister wished the ambassador success in his work in Baghdad. He expressed MOFA readiness to provide all services to the diplomatic mission to develop joint work between both countries, expressing Iraq's thanking to Italy's supporting attitudes in its war against terrorism and in international forums.
HE called on holding meetings of Joint Committee between Iraq and the parliamentary friendship committee because of their great impact in opening new horizons for cooperation between both countries. He added that Iraq is a fertile environment for investment and we call on Italian companies to contribute to the reconstruction of the infrastructure of Iraqi cities.
From his side, the new Ambassador of Italy to Baghdad described the victories achieved by Iraq in its war against terrorism with historical victories, expressing his country's continued support for Iraq and strengthening relations in various fields until the return of security and stability and the training of Iraqi forces, especially that Italy is the second largest country supporting Iraq in its war against Terrorism.
"We will make every effort to increase the volume of investment between the two countries and urge Italian companies to work in Iraq and continue to deepen cooperation in the oil, economic and cultural fields and the maintenance of Mosul Dam and archaeological sites," Bruno added.
