FM meets the British state minister for Middle East Affairs in London.

Foreign minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met the British state minister for Middle East Affairs in the British foreign ministry and the international development ministry Mr. Alester Pirt in London, to discuss the bilateral relations between Baghdad and London and means to open new prospects of cooperation between both countries.

The Iraqi minister also expressed his thanks and appreciation to Britain for supporting Iraq in its war against Da'esh terroristic gangs and providing financial and humanitarian assistance and stressing the unity of Iraq, pointing out that Iraq has faced an exceptional circumstance that represents the security challenge and the war against terrorists and the economic challenge due to low oil prices and the cost of the war against terrorism.


Dr. Al-Jaafari stressed that Iraq has achieved great achievements and won the enemy of all humanity thanks to the concerted efforts of its sons and support of friendly countries, calling for the need to continue to support the friendly countries and contribute to the reconstruction of infrastructure of Iraqi cities and continue to exchange information security and intelligence to eliminate terrorism.


He pointed out that Iraq is keen to establish the best relations with Britain and open areas of cooperation in all areas, stressing the need to come out of the joint ministerial meeting to be held late this month in Baghdad good results that will deepen relations between the two countries.


From his side, Alistair Burt reiterated his country's support for Iraq in its fight against terrorism and efforts to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure, pointing out that Iraq has managed to defeat the terrorist gangs, but more efforts must be made to prevent the spread of terrorist cells in other parts of the world.


He added that Britain is following the development of the situation and supports the unity and sovereignty of Iraq and urged the British companies to increase the volume of investment to build a strong Iraq that contributes to the security and stability of the region, praising the efforts made by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to make the success of the British prime minister's visit to Baghdad a few days ago.


The Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs at the British Foreign Office and the Ministry of International Development said that he will visit Baghdad soon in the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and working to activate memorandums of understanding between the two countries.
