Foreign Minister receives OIC Secretary General

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari received the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, and his accompanying delegation in his office in Baghdad. He discussed the overall political and security situation in the region and emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to overcome current crises.


The minister expressed the hope that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will solve the problems and bring the points of view closer together to bridge the existing rift and face the challenges facing the Arab and Islamic nation and move from the stage of separation to intimacy and unity. He worked on the ground to face the crises of his blood and wealth.


 Dr. Al- Jaafari said that the achievements of Iraq as a result of the unity of the Iraqi people and the support of the international community, stressing on that Iraq with every effort contributes to the preservation of national unity, Arab and Islamic.


From his side, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen praised the great victories achieved by the Iraqis in their war against the terrorist gangs, stressing on that victory is not only for Iraq but a victory for all Arab and Islamic countries and the region.


Mr. Othaimeen stressed on that the organization supports the unity and sovereignty of Iraq and the reconstruction of Iraqi cities, and the efforts of the Iraqi government to achieve stability and preserve the national cohesion, pointing out that this visit comes to confirm the organization's support for Iraq and cooperation with the government to achieve security and prosperity; .


Mr. Al-Othaimeen expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Foreign Ministry and the government agencies that contributed to holding the Baghdad conference for national elites and the efforts exerted in preparing for the Baghdad conference for national reconciliation.
