Foreign minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari received a copy of the credintials of the new Saudi ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Abdul Aziz bin Khalid al-Shammari
Dr. Al-Jaafari welcomed the ambassador and wished him success in his duties in Baghdad. The meeting reviewed the progress of the bilateral relations between the two countries and means of supporting and developing them in the interest of the brotherly peoples, expressing the ministry's readiness to provide all facilities that would make the work of the Saudi diplomatic mission in Iraq successful.
Iraq is paying special attention to the development of bilateral relations with Riyadh in all fields and turning them into reality. He pointed out that Iraq has good investment opportunities for the Kingdom.
From his side, Abdul Aziz bin Khalid al-Shammari stressed on the Kingdom's keenness to develop bilateral relations and upgrade them to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly countries, stressing that his country intends to open two consulates in Najaf and Basra and establish a trade coordination council between the two countries.
He pointed out that the Riyadh embassy in Baghdad will soon begin to grant entry visas to Iraqis wishing to visit the Kingdom.
