Iraq's Ambassador to Greece, Ghazi Taher Zebari, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Greece, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, at the presidential palace in the capital Athens.
The two sides discussed, during the ceremony, bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them to serve the interest of both countries, touching upon the illegal immigration to Europe and the need to combat human smugglers.
The Iraqi Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Greece positions in support of Iraq in its war against terrorism, reviewing the victories achieved by the security forces, the popular mobilization, peshmirga, and tribes against the terrorist gangs Daesh and restore areas that were under their control.
For his part, the Greek President stressed his country's stand with Iraq in its war against terrorism, considering that terrorism is a threat to Iraq and the world, stressing the need for Iraq and Greece to cooperate in this field.
He also welcomed the Iraqi Ambassador on the assumption of his new post, wishing him success in his mission, expressing the readiness of Greece to cooperate and develop bilateral relations.
