Virtual Farewell Reception
On Wednesday, 25/11/2020, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Amb. Raychelle Omamo hosted a virtual farewell reception in Honor of the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Kenya, Amb. Burhan Namiq Al-Jaf. Present at the ceremony were other Ambassadors from the Ministry. H.E. Amb. Omamo bid Ambassador Al-Jaf a warm farewell conveying wishes of success in the future and all endeavors that await him. The C.S. further affirmed that Kenya and Iraq are similar in their efforts to develop and consolidate democracy. The two countries have fought a war against terrorism, and hope to build new friendships and partnerships with other friendly countries. The C.S. went on to thank the Ambassador for his role in building and strengthening the friendship between Iraq and Kenya. On his side Amb. Burhan expressed his admiration for the vitality and activity of the Kenyan people and the wonderful nature of this country, adding that he always sought to develop relations between Iraq and Kenya on all levels, especially the economic sector and encouraging investment between the two countries. At the same time, he appreciated the support of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs during his stay in Nairobi.
In concluding the ceremony, Amb. Omamo indicated that Kenya is looking forward to invest in Iraq, as well as increase trade between the two countries and exchange of cultures, and that Kenya is ready to boost trade, especially in the oil sector. She explained that there are many areas that can be used in a way that best serves the interest of the two friendly countries. She once again thanked Ambassador Burhan Al-Jaf and apologized for the fact that the farewell reception had to be held virtually due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
